RUBRIC FOR PROJECT #3

160 Assignment 3 - Rubric for Continuity Project Pre-production: Student submitted storyboards and shot list prior to shoot day. Production: Shooting style reflects key concepts learned in lecture– use of different camera angles to convey appropriate storytelling points. Were the frames intentional? Were they communicating the scene through composition? X/Y/Z axis? Were they using horizontal and vertical lines? Were the shots in focus, and steady?  Pans, zooms, tilts and handheld dynamic movements were employed intentionally. Post-Production: Did they use the tools taught in lecture and lab? Music and sound effects that help and not overpower the piece? Did the student use non-copyrighted music? Correct audio levels with correct transitions. No camera sound! Video transitions. Titles. FILM/MEDIA 160 – Field Trip / Museum of the Moving Image Fall 2017 – Wednesday November Museum Visit and Blogging Assignment: The Museum of the Moving Image on 35th Avenue at the corner of 36th Street in Astoria is our destination. The Museum has fairly recently re-opened and has a variety of exciting new exhibits.  See ( www.movingimage.us ) There will be no lecture on that evening. Instead we will be going to the museum as a class. Because the museum isn’t open at night, we will be going during “Dean’s hours” on Wednesday. We will start the tour at 11:15 AM, and we have booked for a 90 minute tour with museum guides.  So please arrive by 11AM. You are welcome to stay afterwards. Project #3 - Moving Through Space

Project #3 - Moving Through Space Storyboard due: Lab 10  (Nov 9th) Filming: Lab 11   (Nov 16th) Editing: Lab 12   (Nov 30th) Completed video due: Lab 13   (Dec 7th) Create a scene with a clear beginning, middle and end, using one actor. Your storyboard will have no more than 8-10 panels. Remember, each panel equals one shot only. The actor will move through his/her environment. You’ll include a point-of-view sequence using continuity editing. For example, you can use match cut editing, 30 degree rule, etc. There will be no dialogue or voice over. You may add music or sound effects in Premiere. You can also record ambient audio to build a background sound track. You will work with a partner, each person will submit his/her own idea. Blog #3 - Relationships Between Shots For this assignment, you will pick a film scene (any genre) and break it down shot by shot.   Please don’t give the plot summary. This blog is about editing choices.  Describe how each shot relates to the next one by identifying editing strategies. Are the cuts continuity editing or montage editing? Example: Matched action? 180 rule?Jump cuts? Graphic matches? Eyeline matches? You can identify point-of-view shots? How are the shots organized in terms of their content, composition, color, movement? Find a short piece of media (1 minute or less) you can watch several times on YouTube or Vimeo.  If you can, please create a link in your blog to the media, or embed the clip (analyzing a piece of media allows you to reproduce it under the Fair Use aspects of Copyright Law). 250 Words Due in Lab #10

UPLOADING to CLYPT.iT

UPLOADING to clyp.it After exporting in premiere, head over to clyp.it Sign into you're a account, or create one. If you click on the clyp.it logo on the left hand side, an “upload” option will appear in the top middle of the page in yellow letters. Click on it. Upload your file. Give your file a name and description. Go to your profile (located in top right corner of your screen). You get there by clicking on your user name then head into “profile.” Your audio file will be on your screen now. Click on the actual name of your audio file, which will bring the file up on a page by itself. Now if you scroll down, on the bottom right, there will be an embed code. Copy this embed code. Head over to your blog. Create a new post. Go into HTML mode and paste the embed code, and then make sure to publish your post.
